I absolutely enjoyed my movie watching experience at this theatre. They've maintained it beautifully from the curtains to the chairs are comfy and even designed the pre-movie clips to be old-fashioned. I also liked the small theatre intimate feeling for a change compared to those HUGE cinemas.
Would definitely recommend anyone to pass by and watch a movie in one of LAs oldest theatres :)
That’s a great movie theater for people who believe cinema is an art, and not entertainment. You’ll often find raw straight from production I department screening in this theater. This theater is a perfect Friday evening experience for real cinema lovers.
This theater doesn’t have assigned seats, so arrive early if you want to get a good spot.
If you arrived too early there are great bookstores around you can peruse while waiting on your showtime.
Also bars and restaurants around this cinema, makes it convenient to grab a drink 🥃 and discuss the movie 🎥 we just watched. That became our favorite cinema after we moved back to the city.
The Los Feliz Theater is such a great theater to go to. I belong to American Cinematheque, so I love seeing the films that they show at a theater closer to home, than having to drive all the way to Santa Monica. The people who work at the theater are always so nice. The theater doesn't have its own parking lot, but if I have the time to look, I usually can find a parking spot for free around in the neighborhood, about a block or two from the theater. Just be aware that that area is pretty popular. If I don't have time, I just go to one of the small paid parking lots in the area. It only costs $6 at the parking lot on the street South of where the theater is. And, there's lots of good choices of places to eat, and cute stores to shop in, before or after your movie. I love that area.
We bought a ticket today at the box office, and unfortunately the tickets fell out of a jacket pocket. When we tried to speak to the clerk, she wasn’t sympathetic at all and refused to let us in, give us a credit or honor the transaction. I showed her the charge. Now I understand we lost the ticket, but they don’t have online transactions. This literally would not be an issue if they updated the website. What’s more is that I am one hundred percent sure this showing wasn’t even 30% full. Very disappointed that such a charming place leaves so much to be desired service wise.
Great theater, but if I didn’t live two blocks away I’d be upset there wasn’t an option to buy tickets online.
A great local gem! They always have an interesting selection. It’s an older movie theater so there’s no stadium seating but it doesn’t matter. The theater is cozy and feels like home.
A wonderful and humble theater, friendly staff and small but cozy auditoriums. Parking can be limited, I got lucky with the final open spot in the lot behind the theater
Fantastic, old-school movie theater in east LA, surrounded by good restaurants. I hadn't seen a curtain rise and fall in front of a screen in decades!
